USFC concludes training for Kalinga Cup & 2nd Div I-League

GANGTOK, December 30, 2011:

The final training session of United Sikkim Football Club (USFC) for year 2011 ended on December 30, 2011 at the Paljor Stadium ground in Gangtok, Sikkim. The club was training to participate in 2nd Division I-League and Kalinga Cup 2012. The training had started in the month of July. The club shall continue the practice for I-League 2nd Division next year 2012.

“We are placing the club as a gift to the people of Sikkim, for New Year 2012” said Senior Manager, Arjun Rai, USFC. If USFC wins in I-League 2nd Division then there will be a home match Rai added.

Practice session of the club was smooth after having a new USFC Coach Phillip De Ridder from Belgium; the performance has been much better than before said Rai. Rai said that the team is scheduled to left for Kalinga Cup 2012 on 6th of January 2012. Kalinga Cup 2012 is being held in Cuttack, Orissa. The reason behind participating in the Kalinga Cup is to prepared for the I-League 2nd Division.

Bhaichung Bhutia shall play in the said tournament. It is very essential for USFC to participate in a tournament where many team of 2nd Division from the respective place will come participate.

USFC will play quarter finals on January 9, 2012. On Jan 11, 2012 the semi-final clash will take place.

At present the club has 30 players, 6 locals and rest are from outside.

The new Chief Coach, Phillip De Ridder (Belgium) wished a very happy New Year to all the Sikkimese and said that this is his 1st phase of training whereas 2nd phase will be in I-League 2nd Division.

“I am here to release the weakness of the players, and the selection procedure for the I League will get tougher” said Phillip.

When asked about the performance or preparation for I-League, he said that “It will be found at the end of January next year. Lets hope for the best and I will put my cent percent” said the coach.

USFC has wished the state a very happy and peaceful, prosperous New Year.
