Sikkim: SDF gearing up for Panchayat Elections in September

The SDF Panchayat Election Committee under the chairmanship of Girish Chandra Rai, the president of the Committee, today conducted a meeting at Panchayat Bhawan in Namchi, South Sikkim.

The meeting had the discussion about the forthcoming Panchayat election slated in the month of September. Rai said that a proper and sound candidate has to be selected for the election who shares a good relation with the people and has been working hard for the party.

Party in charge GM Gurung also said that a committed and a dedicated member should be given the responsibility of the Panchayat. He said that people who are out of the party principles, visions and programmes should not be elected as the Panchayat. Panchayat Cell general secretary Mallika Rai said that the security and development of the women are not only done by the rights but the amount of consciousness plays an important role. The 50% reservations to the women are not only the rights but it also brings along duties and responsibilities for the women.

SDF, South District president Gagan Rai, general secretary RN Rai, MLA Sonam Gyatso Bhutia,  Binod Rai, Fituk Tshering, Tulsi Devi Rai, Namchi Nagar Panchayat president Buddha Tamang, member RM Rai, Hangu Tshering Bhutia, Nagar Panchayats, Gram Panchayats, Zilla Panchayats and party workers were present during the meeting.
