Sikkim Governor offers condolence to landslide victims

Gangtok, 8 June 2012:

The Governor of Sikkim,  B.P. Singh has expressed his heartfelt condolence to the near and dear ones of the seven persons who lost their lives in the unfortunate landslide which occurred on the night of 6 June, 2012 at Rolep, East Sikkim.

The official Press Release states that the State Government will do everything possible to assist the families in their rehabilitation.

“Our society must come forward to provide necessary physical and emotional support to the members of the bereaved families” says the release.

The landslide which occurred at Rolep, East Sikkim between 4:30- 5 a.m. yesterday morning, totally burying 2 houses belonging to Min Bahadur Rai and Bir Man Rai also engulfed 10 neighbouring houses under it, further claiming 7 lives.
