Sikkim declares as “Destination for all Season”

Sikkim has been declared “Destination for all Season” and the Department has been organizing as well as participating in tourism marts both within and outside the country.

Sikkim has also been included in the 6 Himalayan States 777 Himalayan State Campaign of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India’s flagship programme.

Recently Sikkim has occupied a prominent place in the Lonely Planet travel guide as one of the best tourism destinations to visit in 2014.

In order to enhance publicity of the State, Department is organizing Sikkim Winter Carnival from 22 – 24 Dec 2013.

In this connection, Secretary, Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, convened a meeting with the tourism stakeholders on Nov 9, 2013.

The Executive Members of Travel Agents Association of Sikkim, Sikkim Association of Adventure Tour Operators, Sikkim Hotels & Restaurant Association, Sikkim Paragliding Adventure Sports Cooperative Society were present.

The activities during this event will include adventure sports, cultural programmes, ethnic fashion show, exhibition and sale of local handicrafts, cuisine, floriculture products, photo exhibitions, exhibition of Butter Sculpture etc.

The stake holders   have extended their full support to organize this event in order to make it successful.

The success of this event will definitely boost tourism in the State.

“We are grateful to all the tourism stakeholders for their support and co-operation in making Sikkim the best region to visit in 2014,” expressed Tourism and Civil Aviation Department of Sikkim Government.
