Holy Cross School wins “Kaho what’s your IDEA!”

“Kaho what’s your IDEA!” National Inter School Skill Test organised at St. Xavier’s School, Pakyong. Prawar Parihar from Holy Cross School became the winner from Sikkim.

The initiative has been designed by Derek O’Brien and is aimed at the all-round personality development of school children by creating a platform for learning with fun and entertainment. The event is being co-organised by Derek O’Brian and Associates.

In its endeavor Idea is intended to cover 2 lakhs students in 3,000 schools across 100 cities. After traveling to more than 90 cities, “Kaho what’s your IDEA!” arrived in Sikkim.

22 schools from all over the Sikkim participated in a fun filled competition. Quiz master Andrew Scolt made Students engaged in activities which promote logical thinking; weaving a story; application of memory skills and real-life skills, besides honing their general knowledge and current affairs.

From each school 10 students took part out of which 6 were selected to compete in final round.  For final 6 screening test was conducted in which 20 question showed on the screen. On the basis of maximum scores, Vishal from Army School, Prawar Parihar from Holy Cross School, Bhawana Regmi from Pushpanjali School, Saroj Sharma from St. Joseph School, Ravi Agarwal from St. Xavier School and Tenzing Bhutia from Tashi Namgayal School qualified.

Final round comprised of 5 sets of tasks based on mobile terminology. First set was “Instant Recharge” where logical questions were thrown to students and their ability to think rationally was judged.

Second set was “Talk Time” in which 4 words were given to all six students and were asked to make a story using those 4 words. This way their speaking ability was evaluated. In the third set “Memory Card” random 8 artistic things were shown on the screen and each student had to recall those things in 15 seconds. Fourth set was “Keypad Lock” in which real life situation were given to them and were asked to respond. This round was to judge the temperament and life skills of a student.

Firth round was the knock out buzzer round with negative marking involved in it. Participant with lowest points was eliminated. First two Schools who dropped out were TNA and Pushpanjali. St Xavier followed next leaving Army School, Holy Cross and St. Joseph in a fray.

As per the final scores, Vishal from Army School secured the third position, Saroj Sharma from St. Joseph came second and Prawar Parihar from Holy Cross School became the winner of “Kaho what’s your IDEA!” National Inter School Skill Test.

Quiz master Andrew Scolt threw question to audiences too and gratified them with Idea’s T-shirt, wrist bands, key chains and chocolates. A dance was also performed by the students of host school, St. Xavier, Pakyong.

The winning school will now compete on city finals which will start from next month.
