Job extension is morally unfit and is a serious issue in our state which should not be taken lightly, stated Mr. Navin Kiran, President All Sikkim Educated Self Employed and Unemployed Association, during a press conference that was called by the Association.
It is a matter of great concern as it involves the future of the unemployed youth in the state. It not only creates a problem to the unemployed people but is also a pressure on the government, said Mr. Navin Kiran. Giving the example of the Chief Secretary of the state Mr. T.T Dorjee who is retiring gracefully this 30th of November 2010, he said that every government job holder should follow his footsteps and instead of extending should retire when the time comes to do so. The state is already facing unemployment issue therefore the job holders should understand and give others a chance too, instead of extending their service years. Everybody should get an equal opportunity added Mr. Kiran.
Furthermore speaking about the comment passed by the Attorney General Mr. Ghulam Ivanwati that the laws and bills passed by the Sikkim Legislative Assembly in the year 2008 does not abide by Article 371 F (K) of the Indian Constitution Mr. Navin Kiran said that the State’s Advocate General along with the state government should speak up on behalf of the people of Sikkim. If they are incapable of doing so then All Sikkim Educated Self Employed and Unemployed Association will come forward and speak up on behalf of the public concluded Mr. Kiran.
