For the upgradation of the farmers of Singtam- Khamdong constituency Lok Sbha M.P Mr P D Rai has taken an initiative. In this regard a programme was organized in Ben under the 37 GPU Singtam- Khamdong, Constituency.
Addressing a meeting, MP stressed on the need to take up organic farming by the farmers. Highlighting the decision of the State Government to make Sikkim a fully organic state, he urged farmers to take part in this mission. He also called upon the youths to take full advantage of the capacity building trainings that are being imparted by the Government through Livelihood Schools and also appealed them to take up Village Tourism to make themselves self reliant.
Similarly, president of Be-able organization, Sushil Ramala also said that it would be better for the farmers if they decide their crop as per their aptitude and also added the organization will help the farmers to know their choice of crop thoroughly. Further BSFL Sikkim Unit head Mr Uttam Chetiya informed the farmers that it will provide loan to the interested farmers to start their production. While proposing the vote of thanks, Panchayat President Mr Mangaljit Rai placed the demand before the Government to provide capacity building trainings to educated unemployed the youths of the area. Demand for establishment of a Primary Health Centre was also placed before the MP and a memorandum was also submitted on the same lines. MP has further assured to fulfill these demands at the earliest and take the initiative himself.
The programme was also attended by CO Major Ajit Singh, Project Coordinator Basant Rai, Secretary Maple Orgtech Ltd, Kishan Singh and members of the gram panchayat and local people.
