Thakurbari to be completed within a year

The long pending Thakurbari construction near Children Park, Gangtok is likely to be completed within a year, where the construction cost is expected to reach approximately 6.5 to 7 crores till final completion of the work.

The construction work at Thakurbari began in December 2004 but on November 2005 the construction work was halted due to various reasons like financial constraints. By 2007 the construction of Thakurbari resumed which is progressing smoothly. Seventy percent of the construction work is completed informed engineer cum architect of this project Kiran Rassaily.

Since the beginning of the construction of Thakurbari till date Rs.4 crores has already been spent where as another Rs.2.5 to 3 crores is required for the completion. The actual donation collected for the construction of Thakurbari is known to be about 2.3 crores only. The steel dome that will be the roof of this building is being built at Kolkata and eighty percent of the work of construction of dome is completed and is expected to be delivered within a month’s time, said Mr. Rasaily.

Three floor statue of Shiva panchayan will be installed inclusive of idols of Lord Shiva, Vishnu, Devi, Ganesh and Surya at the top floor of Thakurbari, whereas the first floor will be kept vacant and will be utilized as multipurpose hall where spiritual activities will take place and the ground floor will consist of religious relics, library of Hindu religion consisting of Indian philosophical books like Vedas, Puranas and Upanishads.

In addition the Thakurbari premises will even have Ram mandir, Hanuman mandir and a location has also been provided to Sri Shatya Sai Organization of Gangtok and north district for conducting Bal Bikash. Adding further Mr. Rassaily said that for the first time “Swarswati Puja” will be organised at thakurbari today where Minister NK Pradhan, Chairman of Puja Organizing Committee will be present to observe the puja celebration.
