AKRS gears up for Sakewa celebration, 2011

A meeting of AKRS Sikkim was held at the conference hall of District Administrative Centre, Namchi on 22nd April 2011 to chalk out action plan for the upcoming Sakewa festival of Rai community under the chairmanship of Mr  Gagan Rai, Chairperson Sikkim Tea Board who was accompanied by the  area MLA Namchi Singhithang Mr Vinod Rai.

During the meeting the following resolutions were passed:

1. Celebration of two days state level Sakewa festival on 22 and 23 rd of May.

2. On the first day of Sangosti (discussion) for Language, Rituals, will be held where some of the resources person will be visiting from Nepal, and Block level Sili Dance competition will be also held.

3. On the second day a rally will be taken out from Kopechey via  Namchi Bazzar to the main venue of celebration, Bhaichung stadium . During the meeting 30 committees were also formed and it was decided that the Area MLA Namchi Singhithang Vinod Rai will be the overall in charge of the Sakewa Celebration, 2011.

The meeting also discussed the various stalls that will be put up in the venue like traditional food stall, antique stall, dress stall and Rai book stall; an art exhibition will also be displayed in the venue.  The Chief Minister of Sikkim will be invited as the chief guest of the celebrations. The meeting was also attended by the President AKRS Sikkim Dr SK Rai, along with all the district representatives, youth and block members.
