The Sikkim Youth had organized a district level meeting at Ravangla recently which was attended by representatives from different NGO’s from Gangtok, Ravangla, Mangan, Dzongu, Singtam and Namchi.

During the occasion Sikkim Youth (SY) discussed on several issues related in making Sikkim better with positive thoughts and added that there would be no variable in age groups regarding suggestions for achieving the progress whereas Sikkim Youth will remain as a non-political organization only in gaining success cum development of the state. Whereas the organization even looks forward to the right work carried out in the state and will even oppose the wrongs being committed in society and State.

During the meet that Sikkim Youth’s vision is crystal clear and positive considering the developmental works of the state. The present generation youth are facing several problems but no one has observed their feelings and the youths are also involving themselves in bad practices like drug abuse, prostitution the reason for increase in HIV/AIDs, committing suicides and job frustration.

The meet also expressed that the Youth should not fear to raise their voice in a democracy if it’s for right conduct and for true factors. The supply and sales of liquors in the state should be minimized due to which our people are getting addicted and younger generations are ruining their lives as well.

The Core Committee of South District was also formed and soon every District will have Core committee and the power will be decentralized as every youth has their right to speak for the goodwill of Sikkimese and it was also suggested that the old settlers from outside State should also be included as members of Sikkim Youth as they are also the part of Sikkim State society who have dedicated their life and services for the development of state.

The Sikkim Youth organization hopes to play a vital role for development of the State and in the decision making of Government for the sake of society along with the coming generation which will have to face several problems due to rising influx. And the house decided to work with innovative ideas and towards making the State a corruption free and a model State. The meet further discussed that too many Power Projects are not feasible for the State, the State resource should be protected for future generation with proper balance, and in future the organization will go forward with positive suggestions for the sake of the State, the SY members stated. Furthermore the Sikkim Youth members requested all the positive thinkers of Sikkim to come forward and cooperate in the peace rally which is proposed to be conducted on April 20, at Gangtok.
