SAATO annual Magazine released by Chief Secretary

Fifth edition of annual magazine “North East India: Paradise Unexplored”, published by Sikkim Association of Adventure Tour Operators (SAATO) was released by Chief Secretary N.D. Chingapa today in his chamber.

Annual magazine covers the tourism related information of all the eight North East states with prime focus on Sikkim. The objective of the magazine is to promote tourism and display the information about location waiting to get explored by tourists and adventure lovers.

On the release Chief Secretary congratulated SAATO members in their endeavor and hoped that such attempts will boost tourism in the Sikkim and North East. “I wish your association for publishing this magazine and hope that your activities will result in attracting more and more tourists than ever” said CS Mr. Chingapa.

Y. Dorjee, President of SAATO asserted that “Sikkim and whole of North East is taking strides in tourism development and there is urgent need to advertise and promote it. The idea behind the magazine is to reach out to audiences in national and international markets and publicize Sikkim and North East as astounding tourist destination”.

K.C Denzongpa who is the Vice President (Publicity) of SAATO mentioned that ten thousand copies are printed and will be distributed to all the corporate houses, embassies and airports. He pointed out “we have received very good response from our last four magazines and it helped in alluring quality tourists from all over India and abroad”.

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary raised an important point regarding some tour operators overcharging tourists and bringing bad name for the state tourism. He said to SAATO members present on the occasion “I request you to cooperate with tourism department to stop these unhealthy practices of deluding tourists. There are few operators in metros that are engaged in such activities. But I hope form our state tour operators will work to give best deal to all those who are visiting Sikkim”.

During book release Mr. P.K Dong, former Regional Director (Europe), Government of India, Mr. Namgyal Sherpa & Mr. Tashi  Lepcha, Vice Presidents (SAATO), Mr. D.N Pradhan, Gen. Secretary and Mr. Saran Gurung, Secretary and other SAATO officials and members  were also present.
