Appointment temporary, to meet up workload after earthquake: SBS

State Bank of Sikkim has clarified in a press release that five persons appointed as Jr. Accounts Assistant, mentioned in the news item in local newspapers are purely on temporary basis and to meet up the increased workload of the bank at the time of recent crisis due to earthquake and also due to increased workload in view of the opening of 4 new branches in this financial year.

State Bank of Sikkim also clarifies that the Board of Directors has given approval to create posts of 10 Jr. Accounts Assistant to meet up the increased work load and also took a decision that as per the norms, all the 10 posts will be filled up through competitive examination and interview. Further, Bank clarifies that for fulfilling up the posts, SPSC will be requested to conduct the examination. Further, Bank clarifies that once the recruitment process of the 10 Jr. Accounts Assistant is completed within a period of 3 months, temporary appointments will be cancelled automatically.

All Sikkim Educated Self Employed and Unemployed Association (ASESE&UA) had alleged that State Bank of Sikkim (SBS) has illegally appointed five persons recently to the post of Lower Division Clerks (LDC) without proper notification or interview. The five people appointed are Ram Kumar Tiwari, Sharon Namcho, Divya Pathak, Tsering Thendup Bhutia and Pasang Namgyal Bhutia.
