GANGTOK, March 28.
Jikme Norbu Bhutia of Mangan, North Sikkim has been conferred State Youth Award by Nehru Yuva Kendra recently. In the year 2010 he was bestowed with district award.

Speaking to the media Mr. Bhutia said that the state award have made him very positive in life and has also encouraged him to move on with the social welfare activities along with development of youths in north district. He informed that the district award that he won in 2010 had charged him to serve the society at large and he was wholeheartedly serving the society with various activities like organizing residential and non residential life skill training program for adolescent at different part’s of north Sikkim along with forming teen clubs and constantly working with them, providing counseling on carrier, health and development, organizing career mela for youths and adolescents, coordinating regular program of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mangan, founder of Malling youth club of Mangan and coordinates Red Ribbon Clubs of north.
Mr. Bhutia is working as District Project Officer, Adolescent project of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mangan since last four years till date.

Mr. Bhutia till date has attended various seminars and training programs like JICA training program for Young leaders of India at Tokyo, Japan 2011, month long youth leadership and personality development training program organised by NYK Mangan in the year 2010, mega national integration camp of Singtam in the year 2010, state level Yuva Kriti and cultural festival, 2010, participated as group leader for national integration camp of Patiala, Punjab in 2010 and participated as group leader in national youth festival in Amritsar in the year 2009.

Zonal Director, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Sikkim, JK Limboo informed that the state youth award is presented by Ministry of sports and youths affairs through NYKS.

Informing about the criteria of presenting the state youth award Mr. Limboo said that two youth, one female and one male from all the four district are selected but they must first qualify in the district level later the state level selection committee screens the candidates based on their social activities carried out in their respective district and out of eight two are selected for the state level award.

Mr. Limboo further added that for the year 2010-11 Jikme Norbu Bhutia (Male) of north district along with one female from east district were conferred with state youth award and hoped that the awardees in near future will even work effectively, dedicatedly for the development, upliftment of society and youths in the state.
