CM’s one month long State tour to start from 17th May
GANGTOK, MAY 15.
The Chief Minister, Dr. Pawan Chamling will be touring all four districts from 17th of May-21st June 2011 along with the entire Government machinery.
The month long tour of the Chief Minister is a unique initiative in this year of Innovation by taking the government to the doorsteps of the people.
Secretary for IPR, Mr. KS Topgay mentioned today in a press meet that the main purpose behind the visit to physically verify, assess and review the works undertaken by the government in all these years of governance. He said that, it is also to find where the weakness lie and to find ways and means to expedite the delivery mechanism of the government. The Chief Minister’s tour will be starting from South Sikkim from 17th- 27 May and then of the West Sikkim from 3rd of May followed by West Sikkim from 6th of June and finally in the East District. He also informed that in his tour the CM is scheduled to visit villages and small hamlets around the state. Secretary also informed that during the tour the CM will also be making person to person contact with the people and will address grievances and issues at the grass root level.\
The Chief Minister will also be accompanied by the Additional Chief Secretary and all the heads of the department in order to facilitate spot decisions whenever and wherever required, it was informed. Secretary, Mr. Topgay has also mentioned that this would be for the first time in Sikkim’s history that a government has endeavored to physically reach out to address the developmental needs of its people.
