GANGTOK, July 26: The resettlement delay for the people of Yangang is due to the state government and in this matter Vice Chancellor (VC) of Sikkim University has no role to play, said a press release of National Students Union of India (NSUI), Sikkim.

The people who provided their land to Sikkim University have full right to demand for their resettlement and we respect their demands but it is time for the people to find out that who is obstructing this whole process. The main obstruction in this process is the state government and that is why the government is not officially declaring the land owners to vacate the land. The main reason behind this is nothing but the government does not want to provide the land to Sikkim University because of its anti student nature.

It is useless to blame VC considering the evacuation of acquired land or the resettlement process as this problem is not at all linked to the VC. The people of Yangang must understand that it is for the first time that state government is delaying the resettlement of the land owners.

The release further mentions that have the people of Yangyang ever heard the resettlement problem of land owners who has given their land to several factories and companies operating in the state? The state government is only making a drama of resettlement issue in regards to SU land acquisition but the fact is that the government does not want to allocate the acquired land to Sikkim University.

Furthermore the release states that if the government cannot avail land for SU then the same needs to be declared claiming that the government does not possess the ability to provide land to Sikkim University. If the state government really thinks about the future of students of Sikkim then the government has to break their silence in SU issue immediately. But if the government continues the same nature towards allocation of SU land and does not take proper step immediately in solving the raised issue then the intention of the ruling government is crystal clear and the fund allocated for the University construction by UGC will return.

NSUI Sikkim state has appealed all the students and guardians across the state to come forward and solve the SU issue at once or the fund allocated to the state under higher education will be lost.
