Sikkim Earthquake’s death toll down to 60 from 77

The official claim of the earthquake death toll in Sikkim has dropped to 60 from 77 after names that had appeared more than once on the casualty list were removed and those reported missing, traced.

In the mean time, search team found a body of Ramakant Sing (22) of Balia District of Madhya Pradesh from Baluwa Khani of Gangtok under the collapsed building on Tuesday. An another decomposed body was recovered of Subrata Ranjan Nath, a retired brigadier from Calcutta who was chief project adviser to Abir Infrastructure Private Limited, which had been implementing the Teesta Urja 1200MW hydel power project in Chungthang.

The casualty lists for the three districts as per official source are South (1), West (4) and East (14). The death toll has come down only in North Sikkim from 58 to 41.
