With prayers in heart and mouth for September 18 earthquake, Sikkim will host the World Tourism Day event on September 27. The World Tourism Day celebrations earlier planned from September 25-27, 2011 has been cut to one day. Now World Tourism Day will be held on 27th September 2011 in Gyalsing. Chief Minister, P.K.Camling will be the chief guest in the event.
The programme will commence by offering of prayers and lighting of butter lamps at Mani Lhakang, Gyalshing for those who lost their lives in the recent earthquake.
This was decided in a meeting called by tourism Secretary Mrs. Nim Ethenpa on 20th September 2011. Chairman STDC, N.K.Subba was also present in the meeting.
