Dharamsala: October 28

The third Tibet Film Festival is to start from October 29, 2011 which will screen films made by Tibetans, an organiser informed.

“Five short films will be screened during the fest,” an official for the Filming for Tibet said.

The festival is dedicated to imprisoned filmmaker Dhondup Wangchen, who shot “Leaving Fear Behind”, a film expressing feelings of Tibetans ahead of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The two-day event will see screening of “The Search” by Pema Tseden, “Tell Tale” by US-based Tenzin Tsetan Choklay, “Prayers Answered” by Geleck Palsang, “Little Tibet” by Ngawang Anja-Tsang and Joseph Brett, and “The Sun Beaten Path” by Sonthar Gyal.

The same festival will also be held in Zurich on the same dates.

Dharamsala is home to the Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, who fled his homeland following an uprising against Chinese Communist rule in 1959. India is also home to some 100,000 Tibetans.
