From 2012 only International Passport holders can go for Haj

In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Mohsina Kidwai MP and Chairperson Haj Committee of India has stated that Haj-2012 onwards valid International Passport holders only can apply for Haj. It is quite possible that many of the Haj aspirants may not be holding passport as of now. The announcement for Haj-2012 will be made in the end of January, 2012 and application forms for Haj-2012 will be accepted only along-with the valid International Passports. It is also to be ensured that the expiry date of the Passports of the intending Pilgrims of Haj-2012 is not earlier than March 31, 2013 .

Earlier, the office of Haj Committee of India has requested all the State Haj Committees to run a campaign to educate the intending Pilgrims of Haj-2012 for obtaining Passports in advance. The Saudi Arabian Authorities” have made it compulsory that only the passport holders will be able to go for Haj and non-passport holders may be deprived of the opportunity to apply for Haj-2012 onwards.

She wrote in her letter, “as Chairperson, Haj Committee of India, I feel that it is my bounden duty to educate, disseminate this information among the intending Pilgrims of Haj, so that they get their passports ready well before the Haj Announcement in January, 2012.”

“I once again request you to bestow your personal attention in this matter and help us in spreading the message of passport compulsory for Haj Application-2012 and in serving the noble cause of Haj Pilgrims,” she added.
