Sikkim: Rash driving claims a life in Rangpo

A truck killed a girl at national highway 31A at Majhitar between Rangpo and Singtam, on the morning of 9th November, 2011. Such was the intensity of the accident that Sarika Rai, 22 was killed on the spot and Sidhiman Sunar 24 age was injured badly.

According to the sources, truck no Sk03/2055, which was over loaded with goods and was coming from Siliguri to Singtam, hit the above two persons form the back. Sarika Rai of Kalijhora, West Bengal was working in the Intas Parma Company at Baghey khola.

Rangpo police after the post-mortem of the body at Singtam district hospital has
handed the body to the family members.

Sidhiman Sunar resident of Sadam, South Sikkim who was working in Zydus Healthcare, was also the victim of the accident. He was badly injured and has been admitted to Singtam district hospital for treatment. Police has apprehended the truck driver Dilip Prasad of Rangpo for further investigation.

Overload and worst condition of the road, were the major causes of the
accident, said the police sources.A case of under section 279/338/304(A) IPC has been registered against the accused.
