Sikkim: State BJP says relief fund is not CM’s pocket money

The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) Sikkim Unit has complained against the Central Parliamentary Committee (CPC) regarding the monitoring of the relief funds to the earthquake victims. Similarly they have also complained the above case to Prime Minister and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

Speaking to media General Secretary of BJP, Sikkim Unit Padam Sharma informed that Sikkim Government did not call the all party meeting during the earthquake period which other states always do in such crucial situation.

Sharma further mentioned that during the critical situation CM Pawan Chamling has distributed cash as a compensation for earthquake victims which is illegal but the same had to be given after scrutiny. Relief fund is not his pocket money and as a CM, he had to issue check as during the accounting period cash is not counted.
He further added that after earthquake BJP team had visited every earthquake affected areas and during the visit they found that major damage was over the tunnel. The government has to think in this regard.

State government has announced the construction of around 14 thousand houses but people are still confused because they did not announce the names of the beneficiaries.Many earthquake victims are still taking shelter in camps as they are homeless. At last Sharma added that according to BJP high command decision they have planned to adopt at least one earthquake affected village. Regarding the issue they have already requested to DC to give the opportunity to help the victims but yet not finalized the village by DC and soon after the orders from DC they will start their work.

Similarly youth president Bhola Chauhan informed that ruling government has discriminated the earthquake victims on the party basis as some SDF supporters received Rs.30,000 and opposition supporters receives Rs.10,000 even though the damage was same.
