PRESS RELEASE Tashiding Bumchu Sunkyob Chogdu

We, all the members, devotees and participants who attended this year’s annual Bumchu ceremony at the premier Tashiding Monastery on 7th & 8th March 2012, thank the organizing Committee for the successful organizing of the same.

However, as expected, all the pilgrimage were made to remain debarred from getting the rare opportunity of visual information (Documentary Film on Tashi Bumchu), organised by certain like-minded younger local people of Tashiding in association with Save Sikkim (an NGO- who is fighting for scrapping 97MW Tashiding Hydro project by defiling sacred Rathong Chu river).

It is reported that the DC/West denied permission to showcase the same at Tashiding Monastery for unwarranted ground which is simply beyond understanding. It is very unfortunate on the part of the West District Administration to have denied the devotees and participants their fundamental right to information and religion. We considered it as a disgraceful and shocking act of DC/West.

This organization, therefore condemns such callous, ruthless and unjustifiable act of the DC/West in a strongest term and advises the DC/West and his administration to be cautious and impartial while dealing with religious affairs in the days to come which otherwise tantamount to disrespecting the Dharma lover’s their Religious Right enshrined in our Indian Constitution.
