The torrential overnight rain resulted massive landslide at Manzik, Ravangla Sub division around midnight. The rain washed away a house belonging to Chandra Bahadur Chettri (65) further claiming his life along with the lives of his wife Hem Kumari Chettri (55), daughters Duka Devi Chettri (12) and Tika Devi Chettri and one Lall Bahadur Rai (15), a friend of his son Devi Lall Chettri (17) who came to stay for the night. However, the deceased’s son was lucky enough to survive nature’s wrath.

Injured Devi Lall is now being treated at the Namchi District hospital and his condition is reported to be critical. The boulder hit has left Devi Lall with a broken thigh bone (left).  Looking at the condition doctors presume that his intestine might have also slit.
