Gangtok, October 19, 2012:

Sikkim and its football passion are set for an unprecedented national television exposure when the I-League match of November 4 between Uro United Sikkim and Paljor Stadium would be broadcasted live by premier sports channel Ten Action.

Ten Action, the official broadcaster of I-League 2012-13 season matches, is committed to telecast at least two I-League matches played by United Sikkim at its home ground. The red-letter date for Sikkim Football has arrived on November 4.

United Sikkim co-owner Bhaichung Bhutia informed television crew members of Ten Action would start arriving in Gangtok from November 1 and by the match day, the entire crew would have arrived. The kick off time is at 2 pm.

It would arguably for the first time in Sikkim that any sports event being held here is being broadcasted live in national television. Sikkim’s image as an eco-tourism destination and football loving State will be introduced to many viewers who does not know much of the Hilly State as yet. The feed from Ten Action is also available in neighbouring countries and selected European nations.

Ever since United Sikkim start playing its I-League matches from October 6, the tiny Himalayan State is receiving good attention in national media and Paljor Stadium along with Gangtok has become nationally known among football circles. Sikkim is only those five Indian States which have an I-League club.
