Established in the year 1934, Government Senior Secondary School, Namchi, celebrated Children’s Day cum Annual Alumni Meet.
In a colorful programme organized in the auditorium of the school,Former Human Resource Development Department (HRDD) Minister and ex student of the school, Mr. G. M Gurung graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Mr. K.N Rai, Current Political Secretary to the Chief Minister and former HRDD Minister and ex student of the School was the guest of honour, where as ex student and current area MLA Mr. Binod Rai attended the function as a special guest.
During the celebration and the meet, Alumni of the School felicitated Mrs. Tarmit Lepcha, state as well as National award winner and erstwhile teacher of the said school, for her unparalleled contribution, who gave best part of her 35 years in teaching.
Mrs. Tarmit was presented with a citation letter and shawl by the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour Mr. G.M Gurung and Mr. K.N Rai respectively.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest as well as Guest of Hnouor unanimously felt that the institution has been a mile stone for them and has always remained very emotional part of their lives.
Both Mr. Gurung and Mr. Rai urged the students to be dedicated, disciplined and determined and work tirelessly towards achieving their goals and becoming good human beings and successful individuals, they further added that there’s no shortcut to success in life and no substitute for hard work.
Earlier the programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and offering scarves and garlands on the portrait of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru,the first Prime Minister of India , who’s birth anniversary is celebrated as Children’s day in India, by the Chief Guest and the Guest of Hnour .
During the function the prizes for Academic as well as for the co curricular activities were also presented to the students of the school, by the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour.
Master Ankit Kumar Gupta was also awarded for topping the board examination from the school this year, the award was received by the gurdian of the said student.
