Kolkata, December 12, 2012:

Thick fog is creating a travel hazard at Bagdogra airport. All seven flights from the airport had to be canceled on Monday and five the previous day.

Bagdogra airport is the only gateway to Darjeeling and Sikkim by air.

The thick fog made it difficult to see some traffic signs at intersections before daylight.

This situation is a big blow for the tourism industry of Sikkim.
