T Ao Football Tournament: Manipur 1–1 Tripura

Shillong, March 19, 2013:

Manipur and Tripura played out a 1-1 draw in what would be the best match of the T Ao Football Tournament so far, which was played out at the JN Stadium Shillong on Tuesday.

Both teams showed excellent football skill control, understanding where both teams create lot of chances but the excellent performance by both the goalkeeper denied both the teams the chance to score.

Although both teams had equal ball possession and were also close enough to net on several occasions but the half ended goalless, and went into the break leveled at 1-1.

After the break, Manipur began to dominate and their efforts paid off when T. Raju long throw was headed home by Md.Sohail in the 62^nd minute.

After this goal Tripura began to press hard but missed on a few occasion as they failed to convert their chances.

However,  it was in the 75th minute a beautiful cross from the left flank saw Sukanta Jamatia volleyed home the equalizer and made it 1-1.

The Manipur side who displayed quality football could have won their first game when they got a golden chance in the dying minutes of the match but unfortunately had to share points with Tripura.
