Sikkim’s Krishna crowned India’s freestyle football champion

Gangtok, August 1, 2013:

Krishna Limbu of Sikkim has won the Red Bull Street Style India 2013. He will now represent India in the Red Bull Street Style World Final to be held in Japan in September 2013. He was one of the qualifiers from the Kolkata-leg.

In a truly unique live experience, the onlookers witnessed the battle between the country’s finest street style footballers to be crowned champions in the fourth edition of the competition in India.

The Indian-leg of the 2013 edition of the Red Bull Street Style was held in recent weeks with four city qualifiers in Kolkata, Chennai, New Delhi and Mumbai with the Indian National finals held on Saturday, June 27 at the Inorbit Malls in Malad (W), Mumbai to decide the Indian representative in the world finals.

In a truly unique live experience, the onlookers witnessed the battle between the country’s finest street style footballers to be crowned champions in the fourth edition of the competition in India.

The performances of the 16 India finalists were judged by Kotaro Tokuda (2012 Red Bull Street Style World Champion), Indian international goalkeeper Subrata Pal and Bollywood choreographer Gaiti Nair.

The 16 qualifiers for the national finals were, Krishna Limbu, Sidharth Thapa, Chaitanya Despande, Puneet Dhudele (all Kolkata), Pradeep Ramesh, Abdhulla Mohideen, Prasanna Venkatesan, Arun Jambhunathan (all Chennai), Mohan Kunwar, Henry John, Aditya Pawar, Michael Keishing (all New Delhi), Archis Patil, Kunal Rathi, Akshay Yadav, Yishikesh Jagta (all Mumbai).

The 2012 Red Bull Street Style World Champion Kotaro Tokuda from Japan also showcased his skills at the event on Saturday and will be training the top six from India in the art of freestyle.
