A valedictory programme of Winter Coaching Class 2012-13, undertaken by Sikkim Lepcha Youth Association from December 20, 2012 to February 8, 2013 was held here in Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School on February 9.

RMDD advisor DT Lepcha graced the programme as Chief Guest. Prominent figures Hildamit Lepcha, who has been selected for Padmashree Award by the Govt of India, Sonam Rinchen, BDO Passingdang, NT Lepcha, Adyaksh North Sikkim,  Dr OT Lepcha, STNM, Pamin Lepcha and others were also present.

The students of the winter coaching class expressed their token of gratitude to their teachers and patrons through songs, dances, speech, peoms, etc. for their support and selfless endeavours in enlightening them through their teachings.

Besides, the teachers were also conferred with khadas, certificates and gifts from the Chief Guest as a token of gratitude, who voluntarily came forward to support such programme.

On the sidelines of the programme the organisation also felicitated Hildamit Lepcha, wife of Padmashree Awardee Ren ST Lepcha, by conferring khadas for being selected by the government of India for such a prestigious PADMASHREE Award.

Later SLYA president in his address highlighted numerous hardship faced by the organisation in organising such a noble programme due to the rise in number of students enrolled every year, despite he promised to work persistently and vigorously for the upliftment of the Lepcha community  while working harmoniously with the brother communities.

Lastly the organisation paid their humble gratitude to all the Ministers and MLA of their community, Minister HRDD, Secretary HRDD, Counsellors and all the well wishers of the Sikkim Lepcha Youth Association for extending their kind support in this noble endeavour, said Lobsang Chopel Lepcha, general secretary (II) of SLYA.
