GANGTOK, May 27, 2013
A research scholar in the Department of Microbiology, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS) Kunsang Ongmoo Bhutia has successfully defended
her PhD thesis on May 1, 2013 on the topic, ‘Molecular Characterization of Community and Hospital associated Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus Isolates, From Tertiary Care Hospitals, Gangtok, Sikkim.”
Bhutia undertook her research on the above mentioned topic under the guidance of Head, Department of Microbiology, SMIMS Prof (Dr) TSK Singh and Professor, Department of Microbiology, SMIMS Dr Luna Adhikari.
She has been recommended for award of degree by the Board of Examiners of SMU. The Doctor of Philosophy will be awarded to her during the next convocation of Sikkim Manipal University later this year. She is the daughter of Late Tsultim Yamphel Bhutia and Sonam Ongmu Bhutia of Sungdung, Rongli, East Sikkim.
