A meeting of the Committee constituted for the Chenreyzig project was held in Sang Khola on May 24. The purpose of the meeting was to inform the Committee members of the status of work in moulding of the statue and to seek guidance on certain issues put forward by the contractor.
The meeting was attended by Sangha MLA Dorji Lopen and other monks of Sangacholing Gonpa, Secretary, Ecclesiastical Affairs Department and his sub-ordinate official, Chief Engineer, SPWD (Buildings) and his sub-ordinate officials.
After examination of the model statue of Chenreyzig, the Committee passed that since the Dorji Lopen of Sangacholing Gonpa is an aged person, Yeshay Zangpo Bhutia (Lharipa) may represent him in providing guidance to the contractor in making the statue.
For this purpose, Bhutia will make regular inspection visit to the Sang Khola site and a new model of Pancha Buddha crown shall be made within 10 days in accordance with direction given by the Committee.
The meeting also approved the revised dress (namja) with the stipulation that the deer skin shall be placed on the left side of the body. It was also decided that the colour of the face of statue and ornaments shall be golden as recommended by the Yangthang Rimpoche and Drodupchen Rimpoche.
Infact, all the instructions given by the two Rimpoches shall be complied with and no changes shall be made thereto. It was further decided that the model of the statue on the throne shall be placed at Sangacholing and the contractor shall insure that the surface of the statue, especially the face, shall be smooth and necessary support to the hands of the statue is provided.
Further, the internal metal frames shall be provided anti-rust coatings, provisions for expansion and contraction shall be made with adequate ventilation inside the statue.
The committee also recommended that the RMDD should be approached for up-gradation and improvement of the approach road to Sangacholing Gonpa.
