The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) has expressed its deep concerns on statements given to media by Chief Minister Pawan Chamling on uncertainty over peaceful polls next year.
Chamling, also the Home minister, and last Sunday commented that ongoing political violence in Sikkim is not a good sign for peaceful elections in 2014. I cannot say whether the elections would be peaceful or not, he had said to a media question.
“The statement given by the Chief Minister that the upcoming elections would be violent is a very serious matter. We urge the Centre to take this matter seriously. The Chief Minister’s statement is an open warning to different political workers and also an attempt to terrorize the voters”, said SKM spokesperson MN Dahal in a press statement.
Dahal said the statement clearly shows that the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) will be doing politics of violence since people are ready for a change in the State.
