Sikkim: Pelling girl shines in medical exams

GANGTOK, June 13, 2103

Karma Ongmu Bhutia of Pelling, West Sikkim has cleared the JIPMER MBBS all India entrance exam, with an All India Rank, 4th in the ST category. The JIPMER MBBS results were declared on June 6.

Karma, daughter of Karma Nedup Bhutia and Sonam Ongmu Bhutia (Hotel Sonamchen) has also performed well in the NEET – UG 2013 in which she got an All India Rank of 44,973 in the general category out of 6,58,040 candidates.

In the ST category she secured 296th rank, out of 16,518 students. She had also sat for the Kalinga Institute of Medical Science entrance exam and Pelling girl shines in medical exams stood third in the ST category in India. She is still waiting for her AIIMS results.

Karma has done her Class X from St Joseph’s Convent, Kalimpong and Class XII from Delhi  Public School, Noida in 2012.

‘I would like to thank my teachers for their guidance, and to my parents and well wishers for the support and having faith on me, she said.

To students willing to crack entrance exams, she has a tip: you need to work hard, be determined and think positively. She is also of the opinion that students should choose their career options according to one’s capability and not come under the pressure of their families.
