Shillong, February 7, 2014

After the grand finale of the Aircel 5-A-Side campus football held in May 2013, Shillong Lajong selected 5 boys from the 5 teams – Meghalaya, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, and Nagaland – who qualified for the final round to represent their state. These boys were judged to be the best from their team by the Shillong Lajong Coaches.

All these boys were invited to train at the club facility namely Haobijam Dayananda Singh from Manipur, Zosangliana Khiangte from Mizoram, Uttam Kumar Das from Assam and Ynpynkupbor Nongbsap from Meghalaya. The player from Nagaland unfortunately could not make it for the training camp.

The one week training session kicked off from January 27, 2014 and successfully concluded on February 1, 2014. The young and talented footballers made full use of this once in a life time opportunity as they trained with the players from the Club which is currently placed fourth in the I-League table.

Shillong Lajong hosted the players and provided them a lot of insights to the game which helped the youngsters gain a lot of knowledge including immense exposure and confidence.

All the boys trained alongside the junior players of Shillong Lajong and also played friendly matches against the senior players during their one week training in Shillong.

The boys were very grateful for the opportunity given by the Club and even though the training was for one week, they admitted to have learnt a lot from the Shillong Lajong Coaches and players.
