A day long Tribal Festival is being organised by New Delhi YMCA at its campus near Jai Singh Road, CP, New Delhi from 11.00 am on Sunday, February 27,2011. The New Delhi YMCA through its Department of Cultural & Tribal Affairs (DoCTA) will showcase the rich heritage & culture as well as the traditional foods, handicrafts, foods, folk dances and music, etc. of over 20 tribes belonging to various States of India.
Groups representing some of India’s major tribes namely Oraon, Munda, Santhals, Ho, Kharia and Chik Baraik (Jharkand and Chhatisgarh); Mukkuvar & Kavady (Southern India); Reings (Tripura), Hamaas (Mizoram), Aptani (Arunachal Pradesh), Semas & Angami (Nagaland) and Anal (Manipur), etc. will participate in the above event and exhibit their rich traditions and rare talents through their colourful presentations and performances.
People of all ages can enjoy the melodious tribal songs & music, purchase exclusive handicrafts items. One can relish authentic tribal foods, watch exotic dances, and also gather relevant information on travel & tourism etc. pertaining to various Indian States having sizable tribal population including states from northeast.
