Arjuna Awardee Boxing Captain Jas Lall Pradhan inaugurated the sports competition under PYKKA at Assam-Naitam GPU on Tuesday. Mr. Pradhan, also the chief coach of Sikkim Amateur Boxing Association (SABA) inaugurated the Assam Lingzey Boxing Club on the same day.
Various sports like boxing, football, badminton Kho-Kho and athletics is scheduled to be played by the participants of 12 Gram Panchayat Wards of Assam Naitam constituency which will continue till 15th August. He appealed to the children to strive forward and attain the objective that they set for the future in a positive spirit.
During inauguration of PYKKA Sports competition Zilla Panchayat member Ms. Suvadra Rai along with Panchayat Ms. Rinzing Ongmu of 25 Assam Lingzey and Naitam-Nandok GPU and all the members, school teachers were present.
The chief guest, speaking on the occasion, appealed the athletes to play sports in a friendly spirit. Panchayat president Mr. AP Rai in his address also suggested the participants to play with positive spirit and alertness so that they could enjoy the game and entertain others as well. Coach Mr. Sabita Pariyar and SABA officials were also present on the occasion. The officials further informed that the ensuing junior boxing championship will be held in Shillong and the champions of the PYKKA competition may hold a chance to participate on the occasion as well.
Like wise in football competition Gairi Goan defeated Gaucharan Pastenga by 4 goals to nil in the inaugural match whereas Lingzey defeated Dara Goan by 2 goals against 1 in the second match making a way to the second round.
