Bharatiya Janata Party, Sikkim unit President, Padam Sharma informed that the party will not work with the Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee from now on.

This was declared during a press conference that was conducted by the BJP Sikkim Unit on 25th of November, 2010. Stating that SPCC has not been able to represent the demands of the people of Sikkim till date to the National Congress Party. SPCC is neither taken seriously by the National Congress which is also the ruling party in the Center, Mr Sharma added.

The very fact that SPCC is opposing the Residential Certificate issue and the National Congress supporting it proves that they have no coordination. SPCC has also been unsuccessful in making their stand against the Residential Certificate issue clear to the National Congress, he added. However both the party have already joined the Sikkim Subject Bachao Committee. They will be seen together only under the banner of that Committee. SPCC has already submitted several representations to their National head office regarding various issues like NREGA, dual Citizenship issues against the ruling SDF Government but the National Congress has always been pro SDF Government. The policy of BJP, Sikkim and SPCC are entirely different. The BJP Sikkim has taken this decision to sever all ties with SPCC.

On this occasion Mr Sharma congratulated Archer Tarundeep Rai for winning silver medal in the Asian Games.
