Dalai Lama reaches Kalimpong

The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama reached Kalimpong on 12th December and was received by his devotees and followers with a warm welcome.

Traditional Tibetan dancers greeted His Holiness as he reached the Tharpa Choeling Monastery in Kalimpong, WB, India after which he was taken to the new assembly hall of the monastery for inauguration of the same. On December 13, His Holiness will give a teaching on The Three Principal Paths (lamtso namsum) and confer a long life empowerment (tsewang) at Tharpa Choeling Monastery followed by an address to the Tibetan community on the morning of Decembet 14th at the Central Tibetan School, Kalimpong ground.

After his stay and teaching in Kalimpong his holiness will be reaching Sikkim on 15th of December 2010. On December 19, His Holiness will bless the Buddha Statue being built by the Sikkim State Government in Ravangla. His Holiness will give two-day teachings from December 21-22 in Gangtok, on the morning of December 21 he will teach on Nagarjuna’s Commentary on Bodhicitta (jangchup semdrel) and Quintessential Collection of the Mind Sadhanas from the 5th Dalai Lama’s Secret Teachings (thukdrup yangnying kundu). On the morning of December 22 he will confer a long life empowerment (tsewang) and be offered a long life ceremony.

Then His Holiness will proceed for Salugara, Siliguri West Bengal on 23rd December. On December 24, His Holiness will give teachings on Gyalsey Thokme Sangpo’s 37 Practices of a Bodhisattva (laklen sodunma) and confer an Avalokiteshvera Initiation (chenresig wang) in the morning at Sed-Gyued Monastery in Salugara.
