Farmers opposes the implementation of Tissue Culture in Cardamom plantation

The Panchayat and the public of Tingchim-Mangshilla GPU opposed the recent notification of Horticulture and Cash Crops Development Department regarding the new plantation of large cardamom which the department shall implement the use of “Tissue Culture Plants”.

A meeting was held today at Rest House in Upper Mangshilla in North Sikkim under the Panchayat President, Mr. Padam Singh Limboo, Panchayat Secretary, Ms. Sarki Lama, Vice President, Mrs. Kamala Biswakarma and members Mr. Lakpa Bhutia, Mr. Dilliram Limboo including farmers from different villages.

During the meeting, the farmers here informed that the cardamom in North District have revived through Certificate Sucker Nursery under the initiative of Species Board where the Board provides seedlings, water harvesting tank, vermicompost and many more facilities along with provides farmers with subsidy grant as well.
