The Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Shri P. D. Rai has sent his felicitations to Silver Medalist Shri Tarundeep Rai of the Indian contingent at the 16th edition of the Asian Games held in Guangzhou, China.

Buoyed by this and other considerations he has written to Dr. M. S. Gill, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports to ‘help our State Government in setting up a special initiative in providing more facilities and incentives for enabling Sikkim’s young people get onto the Archery bus for future medals for our Country. We may make a suitable and ambitious target for the next Olympics or the next ASIAD sporting events.’

He further added that for the people of Sikkim archery is a traditional art form. Young boys and girls are ‘natural’ at this sport and we must take advantage of this.
