A month long in-house carpentry training programme “Unnat Jiwan” is being organized by
NHPC Limited, Teesta-V PS in association with NGO Yuwa Jagriti Sangh, for tribal
youth to attain self employment under CSR activities at Lower Samdong.
The main aim of this training programme is not only to provide training to 25 youths from
Ralap, Lower Samdong, Raley, Rakdong, Kokaley etc. but also to provide them all
such carpentry equipments and accessories free of cost, which make them self
sufficient after completion of training programme.
In his address AK Choudhary elaborated the need and the works done by NHPC for the
upliftment of the society. He told that being a Government organization, NHPC is
committed towards social cause and the scope is not limited to develop hydro
projects but also providing educational facilities, health care, medical
facilities to locals and adjoining remote areas. He also thanked the State
Government and the people of Sikkim for their continuous support and cooperation
and believed to have the same, on upcoming Teesta-IV HEP.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest praised NHPC for their continuous
commitment toward social cause. She informed the participants to avail maximum
benefits from the training programme so that objective of training programme can
be fully achieved.
The training programme was also attended by Bishnu Kumari Bhattarai Panchayat
Sachiv, NGOs, YJS members, Officers from NHPC, participants, faculty members and
locals.
