Royal Challenge Sikkim Music fest-2010 is going to be held on 21st November at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok. Sikkim.
This is the first of its kind music event in the history of Sikkim. The state will host an array of big names in the national and international music. Addressing a press conference that was held in the capital today Morteza Shahrami, the lead guitarist of ARSAMES a Persian band said that this is the first time that they are going to perform in Sikkim. He also informed that the band has already performed in many music events all over the world.
Likewise AVATARA, a Canadian band is also slated to play in the fest. The band boasts a large fan base in India and Sikkim seems to be no different from the rest of the country. This band was formed in the year 2002 and has been able to rise to popularity within a short span of time. The event will also feature other top acts from Nepal and India. The Persian artist further informed that they want to change the music culture in India and they have already launched their music in all the cities of India so the people here can connect with their music even better. Appreciating the beauty of Sikkim, he added that Sikkim is a beautiful place and its people a match at par.
Hozo Rai, member of the organizing committee if this fest talked about the vision for music shared by the organizers of this fest. He said that there are many big and good bands in the north- east but the artists never get any big chance or a platform to showcase their talent. By organizing an international event, they want to inspire the younger generation to have faith in their talent added Rai.
He further mentioned that the event will feature other top acts from Nepal and India. Sabin Rai from Nepal, a very popular name in Nepali music, will also perform along with X- Mantra, a metal out fit from Nepal, who are regarded as pioneer of metal music in Nepal. Our local talents, Still Waters, who have recently been listed to perform at Great India Rock will present their originals at the fest. Dark Murder Scheme from Darjeeling will be the opening act with solo guitar performance by Kusang (Grungy Morphins, Darjeeling). Lastly he concluded by saying that this is going to be the one of its kind music fest which the music lovers cannot afford to lose.
