SPCB pays surprise visit to ESVEEGEE Brewery Private Limited

Soon after the surprise visit at Zydus Pharmaceuticals, INTAS Pharmaceuticals, CG group Private limited and Sheela Foam pvt. Ltd. the State Pollution Control Board carried the same at ESVEEGEE Brewery Private Limited situated at Manpur, South Sikkim on 22nd of November, 2010.

A three member team headed by the Secretary, Forest Environment and Wildlife Management Department Mr. ST Lachungpa, and accompanied by Mmember Secretary SPCB Mr. Manjit Singh and Chief Scientist Dr. Gopal Pradhan carried out the surprise checking. During the visit the team found that some of the conditions stipulated in consent to operate by the board were being violated by the unit for which the management has been summoned by the office of SPCB, Sikkim for necessary clarification.

Furthermore it has also been made clear that failure to comply with the conditions stipulated in the consent to operate shall invite legal proceedings as per the provision of the Pollution Control Act. The visiting team have further directed the operator of ENVEEGEE Brewery to run the anti pollution device 24 hours a day and to respect and follow the policy of the state without any compromise.

The visiting team further directed the company to maintain cleanliness in their premises and also follow the scientific waste management process as per the guidelines given by SPCB. It was informed that the purpose of such kind of visit is to prevent, control and abate any form of pollution as per the policy of the State Government and rules governing these units.
