Gangtok, Jan. 20, 2011:
An emergency meet was held by Sikkim Truck Drive Association in association with Truck Owners Association under the presidentship of General Secretary STDA J B Chettri.
During the meet the joint association discussed the strike along NH31A and the problem being faced by the people of Sikkim. The meet also expressed their sadness over the issue of damages of vehicle plying form Siliguri to Sikkim by the supporters of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha.
Furthermore the joint association has requested the GJMM Chief Bimal Gurung for permission for plying of LPG trucks along with truck carrying essential commodities, petrol and Diesel for Sikkim during bandh. The meet opined that the anti-social elements are misutilizing the name of GJMM and are working in order to defame it.

I agree with STDA regarding the manhandling of sikkimese vehicle and the public plying on the 31 A NH by the anti-social elements, who does not belong to GJMM and is neither the supporter of Bimal Gurung nor GJMM party workers but it is the handy works of anti-social elements belonging to different party with sole ambition of defaming GJMM and its leader Shri Bimal Gurung. Mr. Gurung is a person who have a soft corner for Sikkim and Sikkimese people and I’m very optimistic that Mr. Gurung will definitely help the people of Sikkim and their vehicle plying on the 31 A NH.

This issue will take time to cool off and Bimal Gurung wont be of any help to the problem faced by the people of Sikkim. Sikkim should be given an entirely new route for Siliguri. The CM should pressurize the Central Govt. rgdng this issue
