I-League II Div: United Sikkim defeats Kalighat 3-2 after trailing

SILIGURI, March 15

Bhaichung Bhutia’s United Sikkim Football Club (USFC) defeated Kalighat FC, Kolkata by 3-2 goals on Thursday in the ongoing 2nd Division I-League held at Kanchenjunga Stadium, Siliguri. This is the third successive win for the Bhaichung’s Sikkim United.

Kalighat scored the opening goal in the first half of the game sending Bhaichung Bhutia’s United Sikkim on back foot. Moves and build up was seen in the United Sikkim side, but unfortunately failed to find the equalizer in the first half. Ten minutes into the second term, United Sikkim’s Daniel Bademi let fly with a dipping shot from 35 yards which managed to find its way past Kalighat keeper.

Converting Bhaichung pass into goal, captain Quinton Jacob later added two leading goals, which sealed the victory for Bhaichung’s United Sikkim. Just before the final whistle was blown, Kalighat turned back with another goal on the score shit. The goal did not made any difference as United Sikkim fighting hard in the second half pulled back the game from the Kalighat pouch.

Now Bhaichung Bhutia’s USFC with nine points leads the table tally amongst other six teams.

USFC Manager, Arjun Rai after the match expressed his contentment over the result. Rai said that they were bit positive before the match. The win against ONGC Mumbai was in itself a big achievement and boosted the team he added. He said that remaining three matches are also crucial for the team. “Hope and expectations are high with us and we will strive our best to win the title,” concluded Rai.

USFC’s next match is with Royal Wahingdoh FC in Shillong on March 19. On March 22 it will face Aizwal FC and Mohamaden Sporting on March 24. It will play two more matches against Royal Washindoh on March 30 and against Vasco FC on April 2. The team is expected to return back to Gangtok on 25th for further matches.
