Remodelling of Makha Bazar

GANGTOK, NOVEMBER 26:
Following the revamp of MG Marg, Gangtok and Central Park, Namchi now Makha Bazar is all set to get its new look which will be at par with any other Bazar in the state. The bhumi pujan for the remodeling project was performed today by Minister Urban Development and Housing Department Mr DB Thapa, area MLA Mr Ugen Gyatso Bhutia. Makha Bazar is located at a distance of 10 kilometers from Singtam.

In his address Minister said the remodeling of Old Makha bazar is one of the programs of the ruling SDF Government.’ We want all the bazars and towns of Sikkim to look alike MG Marg’ said Mr Thapa to the local people adding that the cooperation from the people is also very important for any such developmental projects to be successful. He also said that the contract works have been allotted to the local Co-operative Societies.
‘ I expect the quality work from the socities’ he added.
The Minister in his speech also made the people aware about the
circulation of an annoymous pamphlet against the ruling SDF Government and stated that it does not carry any truth in it rather it is a manifestation of a desperate politics. Speaking about the much debated Residential Certificate issue he further said that the Residential Certificate stands to ensure the rights of the people.
The area MLA Ugyen Gytso Bhutia informed that more than forty plots of land have been allotted by the government to the poor people of Makha. He also said that more roads and infrastructure development works would be carried out in the area.
Later while interacting with press Mr C Zangpo, the Chief
Engineer of UD and UD Department said that the total estimated cost of the project is two cores seventeen lakhs and the works would be carried out in four phases.
