The Anti Drugs abuse day has been observed here at North District headquarter today which was conducted in joint venture and the programme started with awareness rally within Mangan Bazaar.

The programme was chaired by Sr.SP(N), BK Tamang, coordinated by SDM Mangan, BK Lama, DFO(T), S Saring, Dy.Labour Commissioner, KR Limboo, DHEO(N), Mr.Sharma, PI Mangan, R Tamang, Mangan Nagar Panchayat President, KJ Bhutia & Councillors, NGO representatives of Malling Youth Club, Nav Yuva Samiti Rangrang, Anjuman Islamia Mangan, North Sikkim Youth Welfare Association, Mangan Local taxi drivers Association, Panchayats, business communities, TATA driver Association and local youths. On the occasion, the welcome address was delivered by, YN Sharma. DHEO (N), in his address informed on drugs & its misuse and how to control it and how the factor is the cause of rising HIV/AIDS in society.

The Local youth, Namgyal Lepcha, shared his experience about drug addiction and its drawback causes. The SDM Mangan, parted information on Anti drug abuse and control on its abuse. Chief Guest, in his address delivered information saying that, the day is observed in International level as ‘Anti Drugs Trafficking Day’. And at Mangan very low percentage of drugs abuser is recorded but Lachung its somewhat increasing and we have to stop it by public awareness participation. Our society and youth wing should be strong then only the Nation will be strong & healthy, and this awareness message should reach in mass people. He also added that, let’s begin with ‘ New motive, it’s not the end but it’s the beginning to stop drug abuse in mass. The prgramme concluded with, Vote of thanks delivered by MB Subba an Ngo representative.
