A slight intensity earthquake shook Sikkim in the wee hours on December 19, 2011. Meteorological department officials said the quake measured 3.7 magnitude on the Richter scale. Tremors were felt in Sikkim’s Nepal border region at 3.05 AM, they said in a statement. However, there were no reports of any injury or damage to property from the Himalayan region. On September 18, a 6.9 magnitude quake had caused a lot of damage in Sikkim claiming more than a hundred lives.
