Gangtok, 26 September 2012:

In terms of Rule 13 of the Sikkim Panchayat (Conduct of Election) Rules, 1997, the State Election Commission has issued Notification  to conduct Panchayat election to elect new members from all the Gram Panchayat Wards and Territorial Constituencies in the State.

For conduct of free and fair election, the Model Code of Conduct is enforced with the effect of  24thSeptember, 2012.

It is applicable throughout the State of Sikkim and it will remain in force till the election process is over.

Panchayat election date in Sikkim is 3rd November 2012.
