Sikkim: Zilla Adyakshas and Upadyakshas elected, sworn in

Gangtot, November 29, 2012:

The newly elected Zilla Panchayat members of Sikkim were administrated the oath office in all four District headquarters. The respective Zilla Adyakshas and Upadyakshas were also elected uncontested during the functions.

NAMCHI: The newly elected 27 Zilla Panchayat members of South district took oath of office during a function held at the South district administrative conference hall. DC South AK Singh administrated the oath of office. After this, elections for the posts of South Adyaksha and Upadyaksha were held. CL Gurung from Yangyang and Devi Maya Baraily from Nagi-Pamphok were declared respectively as Adyaksha and Upadyaksha for South district.

Both visited their offices and took charge of their new responsibilities. Singh congratulated all the newly elected representatives and urged them to give best service to the rural people.

GEYZING: The swearing in ceremony of newly elected Zilla Panchayat members of West distirct was held at the local community hall. DC West LP Chettri administrated the oath of offices to the new twenty eight Zilla members. Devika Subba and LP Kafley were declared unopposed as the West Zilla Adyaksha and Upadyaksha respectively.

MANGAN: The newly elected Zilla Panchayat members took oath of office at the district administration centre in Mangan. Elections for the Zilla Adyaksha and Upadyaksha were also held in presence of ADC P Verma and other district officials. Nim Tshering Lepcha from Lachen-Magan and Kado Lepcha from Kabi-Lungchok, both from SDF party, filed their nominations for the Upadyaksha post. Nim Tshering won by two votes. Anguli Lepcha from Dzongu and Lhakmit Bhutia of Kabi- Lungchok, both from SDF party, filed their candidatures for the post North Zilla Adyaksha. Anguli Lepcha won by 18 votes, said the District officials.
